In a recently published study researchers have found evidence that cannabidiol (CBD) can inhibit infection by SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus OR COVID 19) in human cells and in mice.
Through studying medical records, the researchers discovered that patients taking CBD for epilepsy recorded a significant negative association with SARS-CoV-2 positive tests.
In other words, those patients were protected from becoming infected with coronavirus by the CBD medication they were taking.
It should be noted that the FDA approved CBD medications used by the epilepsy patients were of high purity and quality and not those to be found at the cheaper end of the commercial market.
If you are considering taking CBD for any reason, it is important to ensure that you are getting what you pay for. Please read the Lab Analysis reports to be found for each of the products we recommend here at Hemp4Health.
PROVEN RESULTS
CBD’s anti-inflammatory effects were proven to directly inhibit viral replication in lung cells as well as other types of cells, and for three variants of SARS-CoV-2 in addition to the original strains.
It was found that while CBD did not effect the ability of the virus to enter the cells, it was effective in blocking replication early in the infection cycle as well as 6 hours after the virus had already infected the cell.
As with most illness, prevention is the best cure, so taking CBD when symptoms first arise aids in boosting immunity to coronavirus.
Scientists tracking the virus-induced changes in cellular RNA found that high concentrations of CBD almost completely eradicated the process of the virus which, at the time, was a completely unexpected result.
The researching scientists emphasised that the effects of low quality CBD and closely related cannabinoids such as THC actually reduced the efficacy of CBD on the virus. It is thus necessary to ensure that only high quality oral solutions are used.
It has been stated by the researchers that clinical studies of the anti-viral effects against COVID-19 are of critical importance.
Although CBD comes in a wide variety of products, full-spectrum CBD oil is the best option for most people. CBD oils are effectively absorbed by the body, which means their effects are stronger than capsules and gummies.
What’s more, full-spectrum products contain additional cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial hemp compounds. They work in synergy with CBD to create the so-called “entourage effect.” https://www.hemp4health.com.au/full-spectrum-cbd-vs-cbd-isolate-which-is-better/
CLINICAL TRIALS USING CBD FOR REDUCING THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF COVID-19
There is a clinical trial currently in the recruitment stage at the University of Texas at Austin Laboratory for the Study of Anxiety Disorders.
The objective of this proposed project is to test the relative clinical efficacy of CBD isolate, full-spectrum CBD oil, and placebo in reducing COVID-Induced stress, anxiety, depression, anger, and sleep disturbance.
We will monitor the progress of this trial and provide a report on its results in due course.
